Protecting Medical Devices from Cyberharm | Stephanie Domas | TEDxColumbus
Cyber threats to the medical community are growing in frequency and severity. Many medical devices today are connected to hospital networks, users smartphones, and the internet. These connections provide tremendous benefits for patients and healthcare workers, but they may also, however, provide a conduit for malicious hackers into the medical devices and their connected networks. This talk explores the current cybersecurity threats against medical devices along with how ethical hackers are helping to mitigate the risk of those threats causing cyberharm. Stephanie Domas is Lead Security Engineer for Battelle’s DeviceSecure® Services. In this role, she is responsible for the design, architecture, verification, and execution of security best practices in the development of new medical devices as well as the testing and cybersecurity risk mitigation of legacy systems. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
