Prisoners Of The North - Leaving Civilization For Canada’s True Northern Wilderness
In the summer of 2024 Ashley, myself (Keenan), and our two dogs (Hugo a 13 year-old Newfie and Betty-Lou a 7 year-old Heeler) set out on a canoe trip across one of the biggest and most beautiful lakes in the world - Reindeer Lake, Northern Saskatchewan. Reindeer Lake is the 9th largest lake in Canada and the 22nd largest in the world. With over 2 million acres of water and 5000 islands this is an absolutely wild and spectacular place. Sitting in Northern Saskatchewans’ far north Reindeer Lake remains relatively untouched. In fact, a season of the TV show “Alone” was actually filmed on Reindeer Lake! After seeing this remote body of water on a map, and finding very little information about canoeing there, we knew we had to make the journey to see it for ourselves. Two weeks exploring this stunning hidden gem left us only wanting more. With astounding wildlife, gorgeous sunsets, and beautiful island camps, this was one of our favourite canoe adventures so far. We hope you enjoy coming along for the ride!
