Preserving Amiga History: A New Software Archive
This video details the efforts of a preservation effort dedicated to building an archive of Amiga abandonware, software, files and written content distributed on disks between 1985-1996. ARTICLE VERSION: https://www.amigalove.com/viewtopic.php?t=2835 ARCHIVE DIRECT LINK: https://www.amigalove.com/software The disks being archived include Amiga-specific Disk Magazines, User Group disks, Public Domain collections and stand-alone Shareware/Freeware. In the near-future an Abandonware section will also be added. If you have disks you wish to donate, contact me. TOC: 00:00 - 00:25 Intro/Titles 00:26 - 11:34 Project Overview 11:35 - 15:22 Online Archive Walk-through, Part 1 15:23 - 17:58 OCR vs AI 17:59 - 35:19 Online Archive Walk-through, Part 2 35:20 - 37:00 Conclusion + Outro SPECIAL THANKS ● David Dunklee This project would have never been possible (imo) without the brilliant hardware for the Amiga 1000 called the Parceiro, created by David Dunklee. This device provides easily removable and transferable SD Micro storage between the Amiga and modern PCs/Macs. MORE INFO: https://www.amigalove.com/viewtopic.php?t=2394 Dunklee also wrote the software I used to create ADF files from original floppy disks, called Disk2ADF. (He also wrote ADF2Disk, so these files could be downloaded and written to physical floppy disks.) Both programs will be available for downloading from the Amiga Software Archive. ● Chris Brenner Brenner's ingenious software "Disk Mimic" makes the loading of Amiga ADF files on the oldest of Amiga computers a total joy. This software will also be made available in the Archive. It can also be found on Aminet, and was added in 2021. RIP, Chris, I miss you. ● Many thanks to our awesome monthly Site Supporters and Channel Members for their support!!!
