PortFast pretty much disables STP so it is important to ONLY use this feature on access ports. It lets a port go straight to the forwarding state instead of going through the listening and learning states. BPDU Guard can disable ports that are connected to other switches. This can be used to ensure your Portfast interfaces do not accidentally get connected to another switch which could potentially cause a switching loop.
