Policies were ‘unable to be honoured’ within the Coalition: Bridget McKenzie
Nationals Senate Leader Bridget McKenzie discusses the reasoning behind the National Party not re-entering its Coalition agreement with the Liberal Party.
“Sussan Ley has made decisions on behalf of the Liberal Party, our party room made a very decisive decision this morning, which we then informed our federal management committee about, which was to leave the Coalition,” Ms McKenzie told Sky News Australia.
“We didn’t take this decision lightly; this is a historic decision.
“We as a leadership group felt that, particularly those policy principles … were unable to be honoured by the leader of the Liberal Party.”
