Plugging Circuits (Full Lecture)

In this lesson we'll examine motor plugging, an instantaneous phase reversal event characterized by a counter torque that decelerates a moving motor. Plugging can be used to perform quick reversal of rotational direction or decelerate a moving motor without making physical contact. We'll discuss plugging to decelerate a unidirectional motor starter, plugging to decelerate a bidirectional motor starter, and an antiplugging circuit that allows bidirectional rotation from rest conditions however does not allow reversal of a moving motor.
