This year’s “Balikatan” exercise between the Philippines, US and other allies has been described as a “full battle test." Troops from the U.S. and the Philippines, as well as Australia, France, Canada and for the first time, Japan, will take part. The Navy-Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System (NMESIS), dubbed the "Ship Killer" has arrived in the Philippines for the first time and will be used in the drills.
