Pete Hegseth goes on tirade over ‘fake news’ reports on Iran strikes, ignoring 'historic' moments

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth held a "major" press conference Thursday, June 26, where he slammed the "fake news" press for downplaying President Donald Trump's U.S. airstrike on Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend, also known as Operation Midnight Hammer. "You see, we're here this morning because in hunting for scandals all the time, in trying to find wedges and spin stories, the press corps misses historic moments," Hegseth told reporters. “I hope, with all the ink spilled, all of your outlets find the time to properly recognize this historic change in continental security that other presidents tried to do, other presidents talked about." He also downplayed the preliminary intelligence assessment, which Trump continues to refute, stating that American strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities caused a setback of only a few months. Hegseth Operation Midnight Hammer was a "historically successful attack" that should be celebrated. He continued to reiterate that Iran's nuclear facilities have been "destroyed." Seven B-2 bombers flew 7,000 miles from Missouri to Iran, deploying 14 GBU-57 bunker-buster bombs, marking the first combat use of the powerful munitions.
