PERFECT WEATHER in the Niseko Backcountry☀️

My first ski tour of the season! It's not typical to have such perfect weather in the middle of January, but this season has been a little different than usual. A small break in the snowfall gave us a window of opportunity on this fine Sunday morning and we decided to take full advantage of it. We planned ourselves a laid-back, low risk backcountry mission to get out exploring a new peak in the Niseko Mountain range. Nitonupuri is around a 30–40 minute drive from Grand Hirafu and is one of the most popular spots for ski touring in the area. With such great weather, we decided halfway up the mountain to extend our objective and head for the summit. This turned out to be an excellent decision as we were met with sunshine, blue skies and little-to-no wind at the peak. This day really solidified the beauty of backcountry ski touring for me. Being out in the mountains exploring with friends is something that I really cherish in my life.
