Peaks & Plains Aftermovie 2024 | 500 km Unsupported Ultracycling Challenge in the 🩶 of Germany

Peaks & Plains 2024 – Klappe die Erste! Peaks & Plains ist eine unsupported Ultracycling-Challenge, die über die höchsten Gipfel und durch die flachsten Ebenen im Herzen Deutschlands führt. Der Startschuss fiel am 31. Mai um 18 Uhr in Magdeburg, und ab da hatten die 53 Teilnehmenden 48 Stunden Zeit, um die 500 km mit 6.000 Höhenmetern zu bezwingen. Eine Herausforderung jagte die nächste: heftige Anstiege, kurze, knackige Gravelpassagen, Gegenwind, Regen, Kälte, Hagel – aber zwischendurch auch mal Sonnenschein. Trotz alledem erreichte Daniel Gottschalk das Ziel nach starken 20 Stunden und 2 Minuten als Erster, und Sarah Dunker kam als schnellste Frau nach 35 Stunden und 58 Minuten ins Ziel. Wird es eine Wiederholung des Peaks & Plains in 2025 geben? YES! Vom 23.–25. Mai habt ihr wieder die Chance, euch zu challengen – dieses Mal mit ein paar mehr Kilometern und Höhenmetern mehr. Peaks & Plains is an unsupported ultracycling road bike challenge that takes you through the highest peaks and across the vast plains in the heart of Germany. The race kicked off on 31 May at 6 pm in Magdeburg, giving the 53 participants 48 hours to conquer the 500 km and 6,000 metres of altitude. It was one challenge after another: tough climbs, short, but crisp gravel sections, headwinds, rain, cold, hail - but occasionally sunshine. Despite these conditions, Daniel Gottschalk finished first after a strong 20 hours and 2 minutes, and Sarah Dunker was the fastest woman to cross the finish line after 35 hours and 58 minutes. Will there be a revival of Peaks & Plains in 2025? YES! From the 23rd to the 25th of May you will have the chance to challenge yourself again - adding a few more kilometres and metres in altitude this time.
