Here, Commercial Beekeeper and Queen Breeder, Jose Uribe and Kelly Saelao, prep 548 mini styrofoam mating nucs for the upcoming queen breeding season along with help from their son, Max.
In previous years we’ve always rolled these nucs to paint them but this year Jose came up with the idea to try to use the airless sprayer. We did make the error of purchasing too small of cans of paint since we had initially planned to roll them again, but in the end it worked out; as a solution, we just did not clean the sprayer between changing colors and instead let the colors bleed together.
The next step in the preparation process will be to pull all of the frames out and insert foundation that has been cut to size.
If you are new to our channel, welcome! We are a small family owned and operated commercial apiary located in Northern California. We've been commercial beekeeping for the past 12 years, but branched off and opened Uribe Honey Bees in January of 2019, and launched our YouTube channel in April of 2020. We specialize in queen breeding, pollination services, hive management and brokering.
