Painted Monasteries Part 2, Bucovina, Romania
I had planned a rather large loop through Bucovina visiting as many painted monasteries as I could. I based myself in Gura Humorului , heading to Voronets, and Moldovitsa in the morning. This slideshow is the second half of the loop, beginning in Sucevitsa. Sucevițsa, which had a plethora of blooming trees inside its walls; Arbore, which had a sizeable raven population nesting in the trees; Solca, which is not a painted monastery but had beautiful roof tiles and appears to be mid-renovation; and Humor, which had a lovely garden. In addition to the monasteries, the countryside is positively gorgeous. Obviously, I had a great day of sunshine so all of the colors shone beautifully. Regarding the music, the first two tracks are by Edward Maya, a modern-day musician who does creates great dance music as well as tranquil, ambient tunes. And the final track is a gypsy tune. Gypsies are an ethnic group which lives all over this part of Europe.
