P-47 as a Train Destroyer –WWII Attack Footage, Strafing Tactics, Lessons Learned, and Effectiveness
In this information rich, deep dive video we address the WWII usage of the P-47 Thunderbolt as a train killer. The primary mission of the 8th air forces was the destruction of the German air force. The send primary goal was the disruption of the lines of transportation which included destruction of the Reich’s rolling train stocks. The P-47 was the best suited US fighter bomber best suited for these strafing ground targets. We will cover the successful first P-47 Bill buzz boy missions were they destroyed 20 trains at the cost of 3 P-47s. The P-47s armament, ammo belt mixes, and tactics in attacking trains will be discussed. Over 50 train attack clips will be shown.
