Overview of Precision Landing Drone Methods
Precision Landing in drone applications generally refers to the ability to consistently land within ~12 inches from the desired target.
This is a very important component of autonomous drone applications, as conventional GPS based positioning is only accurate to ~10 feet (too wide of a margin of error for many drone applications). Whether you're performing precision agriculture, package delivery or any drone-in-a-box system, you'll need precision landing.
Two of the most common methods of precision landing are by way of computer vision scripting (tracking a target/aruco on the ground with opencv), or IR-lock (a camear+IR-emitting beacon).
