They can lose leaves and grow many roots, all is normal and is part of their normal life cycle. Here is what is not normal: 1. Roots turn brown and mushy, the orchid needs an urgent repot! See how to do this here https://youtu.be/cWFyQzJbGDg 2. Dark patches on roots - The water might be too hard, or you are fertilizing too much! 3. More than 2-3 leaves yellowing and falling - Could be a stem issue, better to prevent than treat! Wrinkly leaves - It's a sign of too little water, make sure you water the orchid and that the roots are ok! 5. Sun spots - Make sure the orchid doe4sn;t sit in the sun! 6.
