OPNsense Full Network Build (2025 Edition)

In 2023, I published the original "Set up a Full Network using OPNsense" series to demonstrate how to create an example network from start to finish. I have long desired to update the original guide using the latest version of OPNsense as well as utilize different hardware in an effort to continue providing additional examples of building home networks. After several months in the making, I have finally completed this new guide! Even though this guide is relatively comprehensive, it is not possible to cover all of the topics possible when using OPNsense or the network hardware. The purpose of this video is to establish a solid foundation on which you may build out further and dive deeper into more specific topics (some of which I will cover in the future or have already covered in previous videos). I'll be using the 2U Intel N100 system that I build in a prior video as well as Grandstream network switches and wireless access points. In addition, I'll be using the Tometek TC300-TTG mini-PC as a Proxmox server to host the GWN Manager to manage the Grandstream hardware as well as a container to do some speed testing near the end of the video. Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that I am speaking from a home networking context and not a business/enterprise context so what may be considered good enough security at home may not be adequate for the enterprise. I want to make note of that in case anyone is hoping to translate information from this video into an enterprise environment where the network has greater security and compliance concerns. For home networks, the goal is to balance security and usability-- otherwise you will be frustrating your family members or perhaps yourself if you continually have legitimate apps/service/devices blocked on the network.
