NVIDIA recently rereleased its Jetson Orin Nano Developers Kit with two significant updates.
The first update is a hardware acceleration that improves the Orin Nano’s AI performance by over 70 percent. But it’s the second “upgrade” that makes this package more attractive to makers.
The second “upgrade” is a price reduction—in fact, the price was halved. The NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super Developers Kit now retails for $249 USD.
This is the same 8GB version of the Orin Nano that used to retail for $499. It has a powerful CPU and a GPU with 1024 NVIDIA CUDA cores, making it a little AI powerhouse.
Today, we will examine the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano and its features. We’ll learn about JetPack, the package with the operating system and AI utilities that help you get the most out of Jetson hardware. Then, we’ll install JetPack using both a MicroSD and an SSD. Finally, we will use Ollama to run a Large Language Model (LLM) and build a simple chatbot.
