HERE IS WHAT THE NEWS SAID: Storm Kirk had a particular impact on northern Spain. On October 9th 2024 winds of up to 205 km/h were recorded in Picos de Europa in Cantabria. A storm swell in the Mediterranean off the port city of Sète in France overturned three boats, killing one amateur sailor. With high winds and heavy rains, Storm Kirk has uprooted trees and cut power to hundreds of thousands of households in its path. Hurricane Kirk was downgraded to a Storm as it hit Spain & Portugal. However on the day there was no serious weather warnings. It did predict rain & gentle winds over the Pyrenees that day. With a slight chance of lightning. With Lisa in tears and danger all around, we decide to wild camp in the doorway of a closed restaurant. Stranded without food, we rely on grit and determination to survive the night, hoping the storm will ease by morning.
