This time we will modify the Sony A6300 for astrophotography.
Remove the battery and memory card.
Unscrew all the outside screws.
Unscrew the four LCD screws. Be careful, as the LCD assembly is now loose.
Remove the back panel.
Disconnect the ribbon LCD cable.
Unscrew all the metal plate screws.
Remove the silver metal plate.
Unscrew all the screws on the copper-colored plate and remove it.
Be careful, as underneath it is a thermal pad.
Disconnect all the ribbon cables.
Disconnect the viewfinder cable and take it out.
Unscrew one hot shoe screw and take the assembly out.
Unscrew the logic board screws and take the logic board out.
Take out the silver plate.
Be careful, as that assembly contains a flash capacitor.
Unscrew the sensor screws and take the sensor out.
Measure the sensor shims.
Take out the sensor filter.
Stick some 3M double-sided tape on the sensor and attach your astro filter.
The link to that filter is in the description.
The shims were 0.3 mm, so I am using new 0.1 mm shims.
If you do not have shims, then just leave it without any shims.
If the three shims were not the same thickness, i.e., more than 0.1 mm, you probably need to compensate for that difference with a new shim.
Put the camera together.
Be careful with that flash capacitor.
The conversion is complete.
