Melted and Stretched !!

In this Woodturning video I take a Birch log from the firewood pile and turn another goblet to add to my weird goblet collection!! I stained the piece down slightly to make it seem more organic and to me it looks like it has been melted and stretched, I used a clear lacquer finish..
