In this video, I want to share my thoughts on a pattern I’ve been noticing for quite some time: the growing gap between developers’ expectations and their skill levels. Many beginners lack the kind of strong, impactful projects in their portfolios that companies are actively looking for.
This creates a challenging situation for both sides. On one hand, companies often end up firing candidates when they realize the developer isn’t the right fit. On the other hand, developers feel underpaid or undervalued, which leads to frustration.
It’s a strange and unfortunate cycle where developers believe they’re not getting fair opportunities, and companies feel there’s a shortage of skilled engineers.
In this video, I’ll have an honest discussion about my thoughts on this issue, why it’s happening, and what we can do to bridge this gap. Let’s dive into some real talk!
