MASTER The Symmetrical Diminished Scale (Whole Half & Half Whole)
Master the very sophisticated sound of the W/H & H/W Diminished! In this video, I share everything you need to know to unlock the Symmetrical Diminished scale so that you can start using it within your playing and adding it to your improvisational language. This Whole Half or Half Whole Diminished scale is often used as a way to play 'outside' in order to create tension within your lines, chord voicings, and harmonic movements. It's not only a sound used in Blues & Jazz but a sound found across all styles of music and different genres. I get into the deep theory of this modern scale and cover the functions/applications, triad ideas, generating chords, scale shapes for the guitar, and some of my favourite lines/patterns (+ lots more!). The examples in this video will give you all the knowledge to truly master this #diminishedscale so that you can call upon this sound whenever you want to bring out the #wholehalf or #halfwhole tension! You can also check out my Patreon page for further in-depth material related to this video and more ways on how to use this scale. ▬ Contents of video ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 00:00 - Intro 01:10 - Whole Half 02:25 - Diminished 7th Chord 03:30 - Scale Harmonised 1 04:24 - Half Whole 05:37 - Scale Harmonised 2 06:38 - Scale Functions 07:00 - Performance 1 08:17 - Dom/Dim Relationship 09:55 - Diminished Major 7 14:13 - Performance 2 15:10 - biiio7 15:40 - Other Diminished Scales 16:17 - Phrasing 17:55 - Visualisation 18:27 - I, vi, ii, V 21:51 - Triads 25:03 - Chord Voicings 28:25 - Scale Shapes 31:30 - Lines & Patterns 41:04 - Arpeggios 41:58 - Patreon/Outro ▬ Other Video Mentions ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ △ Barry Harris 6th Diminished Scale FULLY EXPLAINED: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7reOAaveCi0 ▬ About Channel ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Hi I'm Robbie, welcome to my channel!
