Martin Parr - All that glitters

THIS VIDEO: Martin Parr is probably Britain’s best known and most widely exhibited photographer– his photographs are instantly recognizable and he’s inspired a few generations of photographers who pick up on his aesthetic. He’s been extremely smart in how he’s structured his life’s work – his overriding theme has been Leisure pursuits in the western world, but within that, he‘s developed many sub-themes - they become like chapters within an interconnected volume. He’s prolific and you can tell that he's passionate about taking picture – you can’t sustain his level of output unless you love what you’re doing. he’s produced over 100 books and edited another 30 and has had well-over 100 exhibitions Parr makes it clear that his first aim is to entertain, but if that was all that he was doing, then he would have quickly lost his audience.
