M4 Mac mini vs M1 Max for Video Editing

Im testing out whether the base model M4 Mac mini is fast enough for video editing. In this video, I put the new Mac mini up against my M1 MAX MacBook Pro to see if you can get away with only buying the base model Mac mini to do video editing. I tested them using Final Cut Pro with a four camera Multicam clip, all shot in 4k, all rendering in real time with no proxies or pre-render, and this little thing did not disappoint! Maybe even more surprising is how well the almost 4 year old M1 Max can hang - beating the M4 in export speed, file transfer speed and GPU tests using different benchmarks. But even though the M1 Max has triple the GPU cores, and double the performance CPU cores, the experience on these two computers FEELS almost identical.
