- The purpose of this mini-series is to explain the fundamentals and basics of mixing drums to help teach people who are just starting out or would like to know more about mixing drums. This session is perfect for anyone who is recording or mixing drums in a home studio environment with limited mics, room treatment or plugins. Everything I use for the mix is a stock plugin found in Logic Pro X, however, these concepts can be applied to any DAW and even some live sound applications.

In part one of this video series, I am mixing a drum session from a friend of mine and fellow YouTuber, @morgannelson6493 (reach out to him if you are in need of a session drummer for any projects). This first video focuses on all of the utility parts of drum mixing such as gain staging and phase. Gain and phase are very import parts of the drum mixing process as they set a foundation for the rest of the mix by providing the cleanest possible source moving forward. Be sure to subscribe to the channel to be notified when the subsequent parts of this series are released! Thanks for watching!
