Liquid Plastic DIY! I Fixed Broken Tiles with this Super Easy Method
In this video, I’ll show you how I made a powerful, homemade glue using just acetone and styrofoam! I used this glue to fix some damaged tiles that got broken because of the careless repair of the toilet flush in my bathroom. This process is quick and simple — the styrofoam instantly melts when mixed with acetone, forming a glue that's great for fixing broken tiles and more. When acetone is used to dissolve styrofoam, a chemical reaction occurs that breaks down the structure of the styrofoam, causing it to "liquefy." Here’s what happens during the process: Styrofoam is made of polystyrene, a type of plastic that is expanded into a foam structure. Acetone acts as a solvent, breaking the bonds between the polystyrene molecules. It essentially dissolves the plastic, turning the solid foam into a sticky, liquid-like substance. The remaining material is a dense, sticky liquid made of dissolved polystyrene. This thick substance can act as an adhesive (glue) because the polystyrene has strong bonding properties once the acetone evaporates. The resulting glue is strong and durable, perfect for small household repairs like fixing tiles.
