Lecture 44 Vapor Pressure Estimation using Cox Chart and Antoine's Equation
This video starts by explaining the phase diagram of a pure species on a Pressure Temperature plane. All the single-phase regions and phase coexistence lines have been explained. With the help of Gibb’s Phase Rule, it is explained that how many intensive variables one has to specify in order to completely define single phase and two-phase systems. Then continuing with the last lecture, two more methods for vapor pressure determination have been discussed. In this video, I have discussed in detail, how to construct a Cox Chart and use it. Reference substance chosen is usually water as the vapor pressure data at different temperatures is listed extensively in steam tables. Then we discuss Antoine’s equation and its use is elaborated with the help of an example taken from the textbook by Felder (unsolved 6.2).
