Learn to make DIY bass and walleye jigs using rabbit fur for those days when the fish are fussy
We're all familiar with bucktail jigs. It's that place in fishing where fly tying and conventional angling come together. Bucktail jigs are very effective, but this jig pattern is even more effective as the suppleness of the rabbit fur gives it far more life. This jig is based on my Headstander fly, which in turn is based on the soft plastic shaky head method. The rabbit traps air bubbles so it's buoyant and stands up when left on the bottom. When fished in current, the fur will act like a real baitfish, orienting the jig to face into the current. If you're facing tough fishing conditions and the fish aren't hitting your usual baits, try this jig.
