Lars Chittka, The Mind of a Bee
In his lecture, Professor Lars Chittka, a world-leading specialist in the field of insect cognition, will explain what we have learned over the last few decades about the mental capacities of insects and how discoveries made by Chittka himself and other researchers challenge the common assumption that insects lack personality, behavioral flexibility, and the ability to learn.
After the lecture, Professor Chittka will talk with Dr. Bartosz Baran about the philosophical and ethical consequences of his discoveries and will answer questions from the audience.
This lecture is part of the Copernicus Festival 2024: Machine. The organization of this event was supported by various sources, including grants awarded to the Copernicus Center Foundation by the City of Krakow and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland.
