Kinetic Type Animation | After Effects Workflow
*PLEASE NOTE THIS VIDEO IS MUTE* This is an unedited screen recording of workflow, not a tutorial. For tutorials please visit The Video Shop: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCuJz7_aphxhoq8RdKbFE9Q All the videos on this channel are meant to accompany and compliment the tutorials for those who prefer a deeper dive into the process. Also to show how “professional” motion designers are far from infallible. If we’re trying something new we have to research, experiment and often get things wrong. Sometimes it can lead to interesting, unexpected results. Sometimes it can lead to ulcers. ============================================================= ► Free project file: https://thevideoshop.gumroad.com/l/zigqrj ============================================================= This is a kinetic typography animation I created with my aunt for this video on my main tutorial channel The Video Shop: ► Teaching My Aunt Motion Design: https://youtu.be/HRHoO8Sh_NU She came up with the theme of tolerance, and then after researching it I discovered there was an International Day of Tolerance every November 16th. It seemed like the perfect fit for creating an animation. We decided to create a simple type focussed animation, and use AI to create a script and then provide the voiceover. The voiceover and music is from Motion Array. I drew on various sources for inspiration for the look: https://dribbble.com/shots/24765727-Not-Afraid https://dribbble.com/shots/15890676-We-are-who-we-are I’m not presenting the final piece as “client ready” animation! It’s more a fun exercise in showing the process to someone outside of the industry. I deliberately set myself a hard deadline so I didn’t spend too long on it. The most time consuming part was animating the kinetic type. And I definitely leaned on lazy shortcuts to get this done. Adding a photocopy texture to the opening black and white look for example. It was simply to give it a grungy, oppressive look since I couldn’t pull off the scattered, dispersed look I wanted. ============================================================= Chapters: 00:00:00 - Editing voiceover 00:06:39 - Creating opening black and white look 01:25:40 - Work in progress 01 (with audio) 01:31:15 - Exploring typefaces 01:51:18 - Building TOLERANCE text 02:46:50 - Adding colour 03:02:17 - Designing lockup 04:09:20 - Animating kinetic typography 09:28:24 - Kinetic type test (no audio) 09:33:16 - Animating kinetic typography 09:47:16 - Resolving from black and white to colour 10:04:55 - Work in progress 02 (with audio) 10:06:25 - Refining animation 10:36:52 - Animating lockup elements 11:25:38 - Work in progress 03 (with audio) 11:26:25 - Refining animation 11:32:21 - Final animation (with audio) ============================================================= ► Find me: https://linktr.ee/TheVideoShop #aftereffects #kinetictype #kinetictypography #adobeaftereffects #aftereffectsworkflow #screenrecording #animation #learnanimation #learnaftereffects #motiondesign #learnmotiondesign #ideasmotiondesign #creativeprocess #creativeprocessmograph
