JKMRC Friday Seminar 2025: Flotation circuits and new technologies: Does one size really fit all?
Speaker: Dr Max Zanin Abstract: Froth flotation is a combination of chemistry and hydrodynamics. Historically, mechanical flotation cells were the first device introduced to float mineral particles and, despite an advanced design and larger size, are the most common piece of equipment in flotation plants even today. Over the last years, several alternative flotation devices have been introduced, which offer advantages and disadvantages. But what should the designing approach be to maximise flotation recovery and grade while ensuring easy and reliable operation? This seminar will explore some evidence, plant experience, and personal thoughts will be given. Bio: Max Zanin is a mineral processing engineer with 20 years experience in research. Through his dual role of managing director of MZ Minerals and Associate Professor at the University of South Australia, Max developed high international recognition among both the global mining industry and the academia as a flotation expert.
