INTRODUCTION April 1967 saw the Jimi Hendrix Experience complete their first official UK tour, what was at that time, the standard British Pop Package Tour. 01:00. THE BRITISH POP PACKAGE TOUR Since the late Fifties these tours had been the standard method of taking pop to the masses. 02:02. CHANDLER’S DIRECT MANAGEMENT APPROACH Chandler had been shrewd enough to sign up the Experience as a support act on the tour, reasoning that the Walker Brothers, the headlining act, were breaking up and that their hearts would not entirely be on the task at hand. 02:53.
