In this webinar the Brodies construction team updated you on all the key changes to the JCT Design & Build 2024 and looked at ways in which the new contract might be amended in practice. In particular we covered: • changes impacting on time and money claims; • Building Safety Regime related changes; and • termination related changes. Speaker biographies Manus Quigg Manus is a partner in the contentious construction team and has been with Brodies since 2006. He has extensive experience in resolving construction disputes utilising the formal processes of litigation, arbitration or adjudication, or through alternative dispute resolution, particularly mediation. Manus first qualified as a solicitor in Bristol before moving to Scotland, and still represents clients in disputes across the UK. Over the years Manus has been involved in resolving disputes relating to many of the major infrastructure projects in Scotland. He is also an expert in insurance law and has managed many large professional indemnity claims, including the successful defence of a £52M claim relating to alleged defective design. Clients commend Manus for his ability to quickly grasp complex legal and technical issues in projects and communicate his advice on merits and strategy in a way that can be understood by clients. Craig Bradshaw Craig has over 20 years' of experience taking a lead role working with a wide range of clients on non-contentious construction and commercial contracts matters throughout the UK. This includes projects across various sectors including transport, infrastructure, energy, commercial property, public sector, PFI/PPP and hospitality. Craig's expertise extends to advising on and to drafting, negotiating and completing all types of construction related contracts and associated contract agreements. Craig has experience of working with a wide range of standard form construction contract including JCT, SBCC, NEC, ICC, MF/1, IChemE and FIDIC. Connor Guinea Connor joined Brodies in October 2019 and is a solicitor specialising in resolving construction disputes to achieve the best results for his clients. Connor has a successful track record in pursuing and defending complex claims for employers, contractors, sub-contractors, insurers and individuals in a wide variety of dispute resolution forums. He has experience of resolving disputes through litigation in both the Sheriff Court and Court of Session, and at adjudication. He provides clear commercial advice to clients. Connor's experience of working in high value claims means that he can manage and process huge volumes of data in the preparation of his client's case.
