♛ Find the Italian Game chess opening variations shown in the video in this blog-post - https://chess-teacher.com/italian-game-opening/
This is a quick chess opening crash course on the Italian Game — one of the oldest recorded and most popular chess openings. By the end of this crash course, you’ll know how to play the Italian Game better than 95% of chess players!
The Italian Game arises after the following moves: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4. White develops their bishop to the active diagonal, targeting Black’s weak f7-pawn.
Most amateur players respond with 3...Bc5, mirroring White’s plan. This leads to the well-known Giuoco Piano variation. White then continues with 4.c3, transitioning into the Classical Variation, which often sets the stage for Greco’s Attack (also known as the Center Attack).
In this lesson, you’ll learn:
► The opening theory and key concepts behind the Italian Game.
► Common attacking ideas for White.
► How to counter Black’s various defenses.
► Deadly traps that give White a winning advantage in as few as 9 moves.
► Most importantly, this crash course focuses on teaching you the logic and principles behind these moves so you can truly understand the opening instead of just memorizing lines.
