It was THAT close

Today we’re heading to Farmington, New Mexico for the 44th annual Road Apple Rally. This race is flatter than most of the races we’ve done this year. It’s also one of the fastest, with average speeds for the Pro men in the 17 MPH range. Combine that with the fact that it draws a pretty fast group of racers and you have a deceptively difficult race where tactics come into play more than any other race we’ve done this year. As we’re just two weeks post our first ever 100-miler, the Marji Gesick, and are still feeling the effects of being on the bike for 11 and 13 hours, respectively, so instead of racing Syd has opted to ride with my dad, Bob, who's 79 years old and is wrapping up his biggest race season in a years.
