Isle of Skye Fishing Expedition

I’ve wanted to visit Skye for quite some time, the idea of getting a boat on the water and taking in the unique scenery whilst wetting a line really appealed to me. I loaded my VW Transporter with a 3.4m SeaPro and enough lures to last a lifetime and set off on a 1500 mile trip. The weather was always going to be an unpredictable factor, strong winds and heavy rain did make life challenging but there were short periods when it eased and allowed me to get stuck into the fishing. It’s hard to know where to start with a coastline like Skye, it’s not really what I’m used to and I was just making educated guesses using Navionics. This proved a great way to catch pollock but that was all I really had much success with, I’m sure there are plenty of other species to catch but that will require some more research. One of the most memorable aspects of this trip were the marine mammals that seemed to be everywhere and quite interested in the SIB, that combined with an incredible landscape made for some very special days on the water.
