Soundtrack of the movie "Interstellar" (2014), composed by Hans Zimmer and directed by Christopher Nolan. THE ORGAN: (Performed by Roger Sayer) The organ was chosen for several reasons. Among others because Nolan wanted to give a kind of religious sense to the film. He wanted to raise questions about what is beyond us, beyond the realm of everyday. Zimmer, in turn, chose it because of its importance to science. The organ was the most complex instrument created by man until the industrial revolution. The amount of sounds resulting from the multiplicity of pipes that an organ can have (hundreds) which can make super complex harmonic structures. In addition, reference is made to the "humanity" of the organ, because with each note every exhale is heard.
