Intermittent Defrost Failure on a Heat Pump
In this video we go out to one of my extended family member's homes to look at their York Packaged Heat Pump. I found a burnt wire on the L2 terminal of the Fan Control Board and found an intermittent issue with the Defrost Control Board not sending the unit into defrost. It would try to shift, the fan would cut power for 1 second and then turn back on and the unit would never shift into defrost. Ended up replacing the Fan Control Board due to the burnt and damaged L2 terminal, replacing the burnt wire, and replaced the Defrost Control Board along with the Defrost Thermostat. For anyone wondering the stake on size was not the standard .250 female, it was the .187 female stake on. I did hook probes up to the system to check operation in heating mode during my testing of the system and it's defrost function.
