Inside Virginia’s $4 Billion Tunneling Megaproject!

Welcome to the HRBT, or Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel expansion, the largest project in Virginia's history. To ease congestion along the I64 corridor between Newport News and Norfolk, a joint venture between FlatironDragados, Vinci Construction, and Dodin Campenon Bernard, AKA Hampton Roads Connector Partners, is building another two lanes in both directions, doubling the current capacity. While much of the project is above ground, with bridge and road expansion work, the centerpiece is the twin tunnels under the navigation channel leading to the world's largest naval base.
