Incredible WILD CAMP & Van Life Disaster in Scotland's OUTER HEBRIDES
The best and worst of both worlds. In this video, we fully embrace our time on the Outer Hebrides off Scotland's Northwest coast, with a park up that will stay in the memory for as long as possible, which unfortunately was followed by a terrible time in which we drove into a ditch late at night under howling winds and rain. We didn't film it because we were quite frankly too preoccupied with trying to resolve our situation (and it was dark and raining!) but it was a stark reminder of how easily things can go wrong living this kind of life. Despite this, and thanks to an amazing guy called Donnie, we managed to carry on and enjoy what time we had left here, even though the weather was completely against us. The park up we found at the start of the video is actually an allowed park up on the island (with suggested £5 donation which seemed entirely reasonable) and there are several of these all over the Outer Hebrides. So it's wild camping but permitted, which is pretty amazing really. Uist was beautiful, but we'd love to return in better weather, perhaps in the summer. Although we had fun I think the constant cold rain and how the accident shook us up somewhat, wasn't the best combination under the circumstances. Still, it's a spellbinding place and we loved everything even when it was grim! Truly the experience of a lifetime. A few things to mention from this video: 1) Apologies, there is a LOT of me (Dan) chatting constantly in this! Riveting I'm sure you'll agree, but it helped string together some of what happened, especially regarding the accident which we didn't film. The accident took place on a quiet road in the south east of Harris if you're curious, a lovely part, but it was extremely isolated even by these islands' standards, so it sort of made our situation worse! It was also very exposed and made the high winds stronger. 2) Sorry for some of the editing at the start on the beach, it's a bit choppy, but persevere and the video gets better after that (I think?!) 3) We tried to film the tide coming in on a tripod for a sped up version, but didn't realise it was shaking occasionally, so that's not great either, but I tried to salvage what I could from it. Well, as we say at the start, it is the low quality adventures of us after all! After we left the Outer Hebrides, we travelled back to England to focus on things that we hoped would help us in this new life, figuring out new ways to work and earn money while living in a van. While we travelled on and off throughout the summer, we didn't film most of it for YouTube (good job or how else would we catch up!), but in September 2022 we decided to start again which is where our next video picks up. Thanks for watching and supporting us, follow us on Instagram @comealongdear for real time updates. We appreciate we're not the best at this but we love recording the memories, and hopefully our videos help or inspire you in some way.
