Niall Ferguson talked about his life and work, and responded to audience telephone calls and electronic mail. In addition to his Oxford visiting professorship, he also taught Financial History at the Stern School of Business at New York University and was a Senior Fellow of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He is the author of five books: The Pity of War: Explaining World War One; The House of Rothschild (in two volumes, Money’s Prophets and The World’s Banker); The Cash Nexus: Money and Power in the Modern World, 1700-2000; Empire: The Rise and Demise of the British World Order and the Lessons for Global Power; and Colossus: The Price of America’s Empire, which publishes in April 2004.
