I'm DONE with being CATFISHED by your pretend god - Tai Goodwin

Today I spoke with Tai Goodwin, who grew up in a Baptist church and placed her faith in Jesus at a young age, but ultimately deconverted as the truth claims of Christianity fell apart. We touched on many topics, including: • Placing her faith in Jesus at an early age in large part due to the mostly positive example of strong Christian women in her life. • Being afraid of being "left behind" when Jesus came back to Rapture his church. • Starting to doubt her salvation as she wrestled with whether she was rejecting sin and pursuing god enough. • Moving away from the church and Christianity as she saw the powerlessness of prayer. • Realizing that people who had been exposed to the Gospel and Biblical teaching for decades were often unkind and unhappy. • Feeling like god was refusing to show up to help her and others in need. • Admitting that she could not connect to the god of her mother anymore but asking god, if he were real, to find a way to connect with her. • Admitting that the Yahweh character is a hyper-abusive psychopath and that he would be entirely undeserving of worship if he were real. • The beauty of being able to ask hard questions and to glean from various worldviews without including dogmatism. • The importance of not raising kids based on the motivation of fear and punishment and instead helping them to gain their autonomy and becoming fully themselves.
