I tried self levelling compound, but it was a DISASTER!!!

As we prepare to install our parquet engineer oak hardwood flooring, we realised our concrete floor wasn't as level as we thought. Originally, I was going to patch fill the odd isolated 3mm/£1 gaps we found under a straight edge, but when we looked closely, we found even more, so decided to self level the lot.... 50 SQM!!! So, as usual, I researched this topic for DAYS... got all the kit ready, but it turned out NOTHING like we expected and ended up worse and ended up being a never ending journey I never wanted to be on. Knowing what I know now, I should have asked the question, does self levelling compound ACTUALLY level?
