The process spanned over 53 days and 480+ hours of intensive craftsmanship. Each board of Black Limba was carefully chosen for its grain and character, then laminated into a monumental block from which the skull was sculpted. The form was meticulously shaped, sanded, and finished to highlight the natural beauty of the wood. It rests atop a custom slab of Quartzite, supported by a handcrafted Mid-Century Modern base—also made from Black Limba—designed and built by Fine furniture maker Alex Reynaud. Integrated beneath the lower jaw is a subtle acrylic panel embedded with LED lighting, powered by battery and controlled via remote, adding a dramatic underglow to the piece. Weighing over 300 pounds and measuring 46” long, 30” wide, and 65” tall with the pedestal, this sculpture is not only a feat of woodworking but a bold piece of modern art. It stands as the centerpiece of my portfolio—a true apex creation designed to make an unforgettable statement in any home or business. 00:00 Intro 00:10 WHY 00:46 Day 1 01:52 Milling 03:38 Invention 05:50 Bruce from Indiana 06:26 Carving Teeth 07:32 Stacking Slabs 10:02 New Camera Angle 10:30 Chainsaw Carving 13:18 You guys Tricked me 15:30 Carving out the inside 16:40 Pedestal Shopping 17:44 Carving 18:46 Lower Jaw 20:48 AD 22:10 Back to work 23:40 Day 33 25:36 Upper & Lower Jaws meet 27:30 Something Extra 29:43 Mistake 30:34 Water Pop 31:17 Vacation 32:28 Installing Teeth 34:33 Pedestal arrived 36:52 First Test fit 37:45 Pedestal Legs 38:30 Sh*t! 40:08 Reveal
