I read Wicked so you don't have to (and it's actually very disturbing) 🧪📗✨ Wicked Book Explained
I thought I knew the story of Wicked like the back of my hand… until I read this. Before the wildly successful stage musical, Wicked started its life as a novel by Gregory Maguire (Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, 1995). With the film release of the movie musical starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande happening this weekend, I thought now would be the perfect time to discuss the original story and how much it differs from the musical adaptation. Spoiler: it differs A LOT. This book definitely does not tell the family friendly story we all know and I’m going to give you all the details (even if I feel super uncomfortable doing it). Special thanks to the Lost Poets Hotel, Portobello for allowing me to film a section in one of their beautiful bedrooms.
