I Lived In Fear All My Life And It Was Destroying Me So I Am Breaking Free
Life has a way of pulling us in many directions. Sometimes we work so hard chasing dreams, money, and success that we forget what truly matters. In this video, I take you with me on a reflective journey in the mountains by a peaceful lake, cooking pineapple shrimp fried rice, sharing my struggles, and rediscovering the simple joys of life.
This morning, I came out here with a fishing rod, watching the birds, and enjoying the crisp air of fall. It's these small moments that remind me of my childhood by the sea in Vietnam, where life was simple but meaningful. From surviving poverty to seeing loved ones struggle and even face death, life has shaped me in ways I’m only now beginning to understand.
For years, I let fear take the driver’s seat in my life. The fear of failure, poverty, and not being good enough pushed me to work harder than anyone I knew. I wore expensive clothes, chased wealth, and ignored my health, happiness, and family. But no matter how much I achieved, I felt empty.
This video is about that moment of realization—the moment I decided to let go of fear and redefine what success and happiness mean to me. Cooking by this lake, reflecting on the past, and opening up to you is my way of healing. It's a way of reconnecting with myself and with the lessons my family taught me through their struggles and sacrifices.
In this serene mountain setting, I make pineapple shrimp fried rice, step by step, with ingredients that remind me of home. Cooking is therapeutic, and it’s become a way for me to find peace amid the chaos of life. I also share deeply personal stories, including my family's struggles with poverty, addiction, and loss. These experiences shaped me, but they don’t define me.
If you’ve ever felt like fear was controlling your life, know that you’re not alone. I hope my journey inspires you to slow down, reflect, and focus on what truly matters: your health, happiness, and the love you share with those around you.
Success isn’t just about how much money you make or how productive you are—it’s about waking up each day with purpose and peace in your heart. Today, I live a minimalist lifestyle, not to prove anything to anyone, but because it makes me genuinely happy.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Whether you’re here for the cooking, the fishing, or the reflections on life, I’m grateful you’re part of this experience. Let’s keep sharing, growing, and finding joy in the simple things together.

I’m a former Marine, father, and husband with an MIT background working in the tech industry. After 20 years of pushing myself relentlessly, I hit a breaking point. That’s when I realized there are more important things in life than just money and success. Since then, I’ve slowed down and learned to enjoy the simple things in life, especially spending time with my family and being out in nature.
I want to share my experiences and journey with you so we can focus on what truly matters in life: our health, our family, and finding joy in the present moment.
