I Grew a Food Forest Inside My Chicken Run — Here’s How to Protect the Plants from Chickens
The video I wish I had 10 years ago! All the tips you need to protect your plants from your chickens. I've done this in an enclosed run, but these tips are also perfect for anyone with backyard chickens. There's tips for every garden, and every gardener. Tour the entire of Chicken City with me, and see the FULL food forest: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8CvEiFv-i_F21tW-bkLJecKr8eHtNW_C For my previous videos that go into much more detail about certain aspects of the setup, check out: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8CvEiFv-i_GLVV7PyOV2mIsmxmKrrlYM&si=k_2oR2yueb9e7Apz I built my edible garden ecosystem affectionately known as 'Chicken City' over 10 years ago now, and since then I've had brilliant success integrating my rescue chickens, veggie garden, fruit orchard and compost system all under one roof. Surrounding Chicken City I have Tony the Pony and Rubi and Remi the goats who take care of the weeds and grass on the outside and provide me with fertiliser (and lots of cuddles!). Beyond the paddock I've got 'Beehive Way' where my beehives are all lined up for pollination and honey production. I've spent years and years formulating and refining this system into the well oiled, super-productive machine it is today, and have learnt so much from both my successes and fails. And I wish so much someone had made these videos for me when I was starting out! So it is my hope that by sharing my garden and my system that I can inspire people to integrate chickens as a working central part of their garden, not simply egg-machines in the corner. For there is so much to be gained, for the gardener and the chickens! And secondly, that I can also teach people the tips and tricks to successful integration so you don't have to have the steep learning curve that I did. Thanks so much to @dylantbrown for putting this brilliant video together - we so appreciate you! Find out more about my chickens and my edible garden ecosystem on my Instagram page!
