On Christmas, I finally got around to messing with the thing. It was frustrating to say the least. The low E string is a bit finicky, but the rest work ok. The master control knob works, but just doesn't really have anything "worthwhile" in my opinion. Gibson Robot guitars have a large learning curve, but at least with the Firebird X, it is WORTH learning. The Dark Fire doesn't really have any redeeming features in its electronics - all the settings sound about the same or just not that good to begin with. All that said... it IS a comfy guitar and would make a GREAT project to turn into a regular guitar. In fact, Gibson did their own version of that known as the London Fog. Hopefully I can document one of those in the future. Overall, it was a cool idea and a good looker... but needlessly complicated for what it offers the average user.
