How to Use A Film Slate

Here's a little video with some tips for using a slate. This is MOST of the things you need to know but I did forget to include a couple of things... 1. There are also ID slates. These are done at the end or start of a series of shots like cutaways which don't need to be individually slated. So you just have a clip with the slate either as a head or a tail before or after the cutaway clips. Under the TAKE section you'll most likely put SERIES instead of 1. 2. There is also the chance of there being a letter before the scene number when using the American Slating System. It can denote the camera team if there is a second unit (a second team shooting other stuff) and can also represent a shot that includes VFX. If it includes VFX you have a V and you will announce the V as 'Visual'. My A7Rii is STILL in for repair so I am stuck filming in my studio until I can get more compact to do my other episode plans. I really do apologise for the slight focus issue with this one. Inability to use autofocus can really be a problem for YouTube videos when you're filming by yourself.
