Shoulder Injection Without Ultrasound - Clinical Skills - Dr Gill One of the common sources of pain in the upper limb is the shoulder joint, whether that is due to osteoarthritis, shoulder impingement, bursitis or a frozen shoulder. In all of these cases, a steroid injection can be used as part of the management. It is important to note that the purpose of a steroid shoulder injection is to allow other management options to take effect, for example lessening pain to allow physiotherapy to be more effective.
